LEHI, Utah, May 31, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- A 14-year-old girl leaving the Lehi Rodeo grounds Friday after a large dance was struck by a sedan and critically injured, according to Lehi City Police.
The youth dance was hosted by multiple congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The incident happened at about 11:13 p.m. Friday in the area of 500 West and 100 North.
"Initially, witnesses and officers rendered aid until paramedics arrived," a Lehi City Police statement says.
"The juvenile was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, then Life Flighted to a hospital in Salt Lake City. The juvenile suffered significant head trauma. The current status of the juvenile is unknown at this time."
A Lehi Police official told journalists on Saturday that the girl, a Lehi resident, was walking by herself and was not at a crosswalk.
The driver of the sedan stopped and cooperated fully with police.
"The thoughts and prayers of our department are with the patient, her family and others affected by this incident," the officer said, adding that from the facts known at this point, it "does appear that this is an accident, a very tragic accident."
Gephardt Daily will have more information as details are confirmed.
