SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 4, 2015 – Gov. Gary R. Herbert has authorized the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the state of Utah to continue until Dec. 7, 2015 to honor the victims of the San Bernardino, California attack.
“Jeanette and I join with other Utahns in mourning the tragedy in San Bernardino,” Gov. Herbert said. “We are deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence that has devastated families and friends across the nation.”
The flags will continue to be flown at half-staff until sunset Monday, Dec. 7, 2015. The lowering of the flags will coincide with Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which is Monday.
Late last month, Gov. Herbert authorized the lowering of the flag of the United States of America and the flag of the state of Utah to honor the life and service of former Gov. Olene Walker.
Before that, Gov. Herbert authorized the lowering flags to honor the victims of the terrorist attack in Paris, France.
