Grand County SAR rescues injured mountain biker in record-high heat

GRAND COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — An injured mountain biker was carried out from the Klondike Bluffs in southern Utah by a multi-agency rescue party Sunday.

Grand County Search and Rescue posted the information on Facebook, saying the incident occurred on the Mega Steps/Alaska bike trails area.

Responding were a Grand County deputy, five Grand County SAR members, two EMS members, two National Park Service rangers, and a Bureau of Land Management ranger.

The 2-mile carry out was conducted in the searing heat, the post said, and rescuers were able to use their GCSAR vehicle to finish the last mile.

GCSAR expressed thanks to everyone who assisted in the rescue.
