GRAND COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Grand County Search and Rescue is always ready to help, as they did Monday afternoon when a dog named Jerome fell over the edge of Porcupine Rim.

Jerome was chasing a squirrel and fell about 60 feet to a lower ledge, a GCSAR news release said.

Rescuers used Standard Technical Rope Rescue techniques to raise Jerome up in a previously outfitted dog crate secured to a litter.

“Miraculously, he did not sustain any obvious injuries … Jerome was happy to see his rescuer and willingly cooperated in our rescue efforts. He was excited to be reunited with his owners.” the news release said.

Four members of GCSAR responded. GCSAR expressed gratitude to “the numerous bystanders who assisted with the raise.”

This was the 109th incident of the year for the Grand County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Division.
