LEHI, UTAH – September 22, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A hang gliding accident in Lehi has sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to Battalion Chief Rick Howard of the Lehi City Fire Department, the man, who in his 50s, was hang gliding around 11:20 a.m. when he lost wind momentum, slammed into the side of the mountain and fell 50 feet.
“He has significant injuries to his lower extremities and was Life Flighted to IMC in Murray,” said Howard. “It is a really good day for hang gliding with nice weather and the wind’s just about right so there were a lot of people who witnessed the incident and were able to make it to the victim’s side until crews arrived.”
Howard said the victim, who is from Hawaii, is in serious condition but is stable at this time.
