Heber City Police: Man faces multiple charges after claiming to be FBI agent, stealing vehicle

HEBER CITY, Utah, Aug. 1, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Heber City Police arrested a man Sunday after they say he impersonated an FBI agent and stole a vehicle.

Luke Menders was arrested after he claimed to be an FBI agent and told a man to give him his car keys while he and the man were in a local gas station, a news release from Heber City Police Department states.

According to the news release, an altercation ensued, and Menders physically took the man’s keys and got into the man’s vehicle.

Police say Menders almost backed over the man with the vehicle.

A short time later, officers stopped Menders in the stolen vehicle and took him into custody.

Menders is facing charges of:

  • Aggravated Robbery
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Aggravated assault
  • Simple assault
  • Denied drivers license
  • Impersonating a police officer
