HEBER CITY, Utah, Feb. 23, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Heber City Police Department is warning residents of a phone scam.

“It has been brought to our attention that there is a group contacting local individuals asking for donations to help the police department,” said a Facebook post from Heber City police. “They are bringing up that they need donations to prevent the defunding of the police. Please do not fall victim to this type of scam. IT IS A SCAM!”

Officials said if you are in any doubt about a call such as this, you should call Heber City police at 435-654-3040.

“Heber City police appreciate the support and love we receive from the community and certainly do not want you to fall victim to this scheme,” the post said. “Please do not hesitate to contact our department and ask questions before ever donating to any type of fundraiser.”
