HEBER CITY, UTAH – August 7, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Heber City police officers responded to a call about a domestic bird that was in the trees during the Farmers Market Thursday afternoon.
While waiting for Animal Control personnel to arrive, officers were approached by David Lynn Mazzettia, who claimed to know the owner of the bird. He requested that Animal Control not be contacted, but would not identify the bird’s owner.
He also would not identify himself, but said he wanted officers to leave the bird in his care.
Police officers said in a statement: “When the bird flew to another tree, Mazzettia started yelling at children who were following the bird’s progress, causing a disturbance in the park. Mazzettia refused to identify himself and, after several requests, he continued to cause a disturbance in the park.”
Police officers said Mazzettia was resistant and aggressive. He was taken into custody and charged with failure to disclose identity, resisting arrest, and for providing false personal information to a peace officer. He also had two statewide warrants out of Washington County for failure to disclose identity and trespassing.
