SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 10, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Hibernian Society will be holding a virtual event to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and a parade will take place in September.

The virtual event will be a live stream this Saturday, March 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. St. Patrick’s Day itself is on Wednesday, March 17.

“Enjoy Irish dancing, traditional Irish bands, pipe bands, and shenanigans from the comfort of your own home,” the Hibernian Society website says. “Make sure you are well supplied with libations to toast with. We will be raising glasses often and cheerfully as we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day together by the magic of the internet. Click this link to join.”

In addition, the parade and siamsa, which is the Gaelic word for folk entertainment, will be held on Sept. 25, 2021, roughly halfway to St. Patrick’s Day, the website says.

“Details about the event, parade entry application, vendor application, and sponsorship information will be on the parade tab,” the website states. “We’ll enjoy a bit of warmer weather and celebrate our triumph over coronavirus, the potato famine, pretty much whatever you throw at us. The Irish persevere. We set a theme for the 2020 parade as ‘New Beginnings’ and that theme seems more applicable than ever.”
