CACHE COUNTY, Utah, April 15, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A body was found by a hiker Sunday afternoon near Providence Canyon, and officials are working with the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner to determine the individual’s identity.
Cache County Police Lt. Brian Locke told Gephardt Daily that the body, found in a draw north of the canyon, is believed to be male.
He said it has yet to be determined how long the body may have been there, but “it’s not recent.”
On Nov. 29 last year, Kyle Burton, 18, of Lovell, Wyoming, went missing while staying with family members in Cache County. He was last seen in the River Heights/Logan area and still has not been located.
Locke said, however, that there is nothing to indicate that the body found Sunday is the missing 18-year-old.
It’s still early in the investigation, he said, and officials are awaiting the report from the medical examiner.
Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
