MOAB, Utah, March 5, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 50-year-old woman from Lakewood, Colo., was found dead next to her vehicle 12 miles north of Moab Sunday morning after what officials are calling a hit-and-run crash.

The deceased has been identified as Cheryl G. Zimmerman, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce told Gephardt Daily.

Royce said a passing motorist found Zimmerman’s body at the side of SR-191 at mile post 40, next to her white SUV, which was parked.

The SUV had been traveling southbound, Royce added, as had the vehicle that hit Zimmerman.

Authorities believe the vehicle involved is a white semi-tractor, which now would have damage to the right side front.

The Grand County Sheriff’s Office is taking the lead on the investigation, assisted by the UHP.

Zimmerman’s official cause of death is still under investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the GCSO at 435-259-8115 or the UHP at 435-259-5441.
