SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 21, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Starting officially this Memorial Day weekend, Hogle Zoo giraffes will be ready to eat out of your hand.
It will cost $5 to hand feed a long-necked resident from the second floor of the giraffe exhibit. Judging from a visitor post on the Hogle Zoo Facebook page, the food of choice seems to be leaves of lettuce. And feedings will be available at set times only, because there are limits to how much lettuce anyone can handle.
“Want to get to know Stephanie and the whole giraffe herd? Starting Memorial Day weekend, you can meet us on Twiga Terrace to feed tasty treats to our tallest residents,” a notice on the Zoo’s Facebook page says.
“Giraffe feeds are $5 and run on select days in the summer, starting Memorial Day weekend,” the page says, adding, “Don’t forget to check our story for the daily schedule!”
