Update: Victim of attempted homicide in Holladay dies

HOLLADAY, Utah, Oct. 6, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A Holladay man has died five days after he was found unconscious with a noose around his neck.

Unified Police Department tweeted Thursday Bryan Wright has passed away, and that charges will be amended against his son, Shane Paul Wright, 21.

Shane Wright was incarcerated after a Saturday morning welfare check conducted by police.

According to an arrest report from the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office, when officers arrived they found the son, who is reported to have said, “It’s gruesome. I helped my dad kill himself.”

Unified Fire Authority and Unified Police officers entered the home and found the victim “unconscious and shallow breathing, with a noose tied around his neck,” according to the report.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Shane Wright was interviewed by detectives and is reported to have said he needed to aid with his dad’s death in order to help his dad through all his pain.

The son was arrested by Unified Police and is currently being held in Salt Lake County Jail.
