Hooper City employee drowns while working on sewer system

HOOPER, Utah, Sept. 15, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Hooper City employee died Saturday afternoon while he was working on the city’s sewer system.

A news release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office states that sheriff’s office and medical personnel were dispatched to Hooper at 3:43 p.m. on a report of a drowning.

A Hooper City employee had fallen head first into a pipe as he was working on the sewer system.

“A fellow employee was unable to remove him from the pipe and called 911 for assistance. Upon arrival at the scene the employee was found to be deceased,” the news release says.

An investigation into the incident is underway.

The name of the deceased is not being released at this time, pending notification of family.
