OGDEN, Utah, March 3, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Hostlers Model Railroad Festival opened Friday afternoon at Union Station, and the family fun continues through the weekend.

Whether model trains are your weekend hobby or a full-time obsession, the festival is a great way to spend a few hours with other train lovers, enjoying the elaborate displays and perhaps finding that one special piece for your own collection.

The South Weber Model Railroad Club is providing rides on their handcrafted train out in front of the station. As it says on their website, “Our trains are approximately 1/8th scale. We run on 7 1/2″ gauge track. Each car can hold up to 900 pounds, so come ride our trains.” And each car is cut, welded and painted by club members to match its full-size counterpart.

The Lego Users display inside Union Station is breath-taking in both size and detail.

Artwork — from original paintings to large format photos — is offered for sale, as is handmade jewelry and a host of railroad-related items.

Union Station is at 2501 Wall Ave. Hours for the Hostlers Model Railroad Festival are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 4, and 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5.

Admission for adults is $6, or $10 for a weekend pass. Children age 12 and younger get in free.
