RICHFIELD, Utah, Sept. 26, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A human-caused wildfire is burning east of Richfield Thursday afternoon.

The Hepplers Fire is burning five miles east of the Sevier County city, Central Utah Fire Interagency said in a news release. The fire is estimated to be between 50 and 75 acres, and is 50 percent contained.

“Ground and air resources are engaged in providing structure protection and knocking down hot spots,” the news release said. “The fire is burning in short grass and brush, with two structures and two communication towers nearby.”

The fire is burning uphill and to the north, the news release said. Resources on the scene are 10 fire engines, two large air tankers, two small engine air tankers, one helicopter and various overhead personnel.

No evacuations are in place at this time.

Sevier County Sheriff’s deputies have closed Hepplers Pond Road temporarily.

The fire, which is believed to be human caused, is under investigation.
