UPDATE: Body Found in Suitcase by Saltair is Not That of Missing Provo Woman
MAGNA, UTAH – MAY 1, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) —
UPDATE: The Provo Police Department has announced the body discovered by UDOT employees yesterday at Saltair is not that of the missing Provo woman they have been looking for.
“The information we have received indicates that the UHP investigation is in no way related to the disappearance of Elizabeth Elena Laguna Salgado,” said the Provo Police Department Facebook Page.

According to UHP Sgt. Todd Royce, the suitcase was discovered by UDOT employees around 3:30 p.m. near milepost 102, not far from Saltair.
UDOT spokesman John Gleason said workers were putting in a cable barrier along the side of the freeway. He said one worker arrived a early and went for a walk when he spotted the suitcase in a small ravine.
“He saw the suitcase down an embankment and thought it looked suspicious,’ Gleason said. “A UHP trooper opened the suitcase and found human remains.”
Investigators confirmed the Provo Police Department was called to the scene to look for possible connections to the disappearance of 26-year old Provo resident Elizabeth Laguna Salgado.
Laguna-Salgado was last seen April 16 while leaving the Nomen Global School at 384 W. Center St. Since then police say she has not returned to her apartment, been back to work, or contacted family members.
Salgado is described as 5’4″ to 5’5″ inches tall, 120 to 130 lbs., with long black hair and brown eyes.
Detectives say she was last seen wearing a denim jacket, blue jeans with black or brown knee high boots. She was reportedly carrying a denim hand bag with red straps.
