HURRICANE, UTAH – October 7, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A Hurricane man is behind bars after sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled female in September.
St. George Police posted information on Facebook regarding the disabled female who was taken from her neighborhood and sexually assaulted.

According to Detective Brandon Dunbar, St. George Police, the assault took place between noon and 2:15 p.m. on September 16 when the suspect drove a woman out of the area and assaulted her.

“This particular case is disturbing because the victim of the sexual assault is a vulnerable adult who was driven from the area around her residence to other locations where the assault occurred,” said Dunbar. “The suspect took advantage of the diminished capacities of the victim.”

St. George Police updated on Facebook Tuesday: “Detective Dunbar has been working diligently pursuing leads and tips. We would like to thank all of you who responded to our request for assistance in identifying the subject.
“Detective Dunbar was following up on leads when he was led to the home of Cherokee Miles Williams. The focus of the investigation centered on Mr. Williams. Detective Dunbar was able to secure a search warrant for Mr. Williams and his residence, which is located in Hurricane City. With the assistance of the Hurricane City Police, Mr. Williams was detained this afternoon and the search warrant was served.
“Detective Dunbar developed probable cause to support charges and he arrested Cherokee Miles Williams on charges that include Forcible Sexual Abuse, Forcible Sodomy, and Aggravated Kidnapping.”
Williams has been booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility.
