Hurricane police warn of phone scam

HURRICANE, Utah, May 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Hurricane City Police Department officials are warning residents of a phone scam.

“I was informed today of a citizen who received a phone call from someone seeking donations for Hurricane PD,” said a Facebook post from officials. “This is a scam. Please do not give any money to someone soliciting a donation for Hurricane PD.”

Officials said in the post that the phone call specifically references Hurricane PD by name.

“We rarely ask the public for donations, when we do (Shop with a Cop etc.) it will be posted on our social media or on the city website,” the post went on. “NEVER BY PHONE!!”
