HURRICANE, Utah, April 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Hurricane were asking residents in the area of 700 West and 100 North to shelter in place and keep their doors locked Sunday night, while officers searched for the suspect in a vehicle theft.

By 9:30 p.m., the suspect had been found and arrested.

Earlier Sunday evening, Officer Ken Thompson, Hurricane Police Department, told Gephardt Daily that a vehicle had been stolen out of Washington City.

Police then spotted the stolen vehicle in Hurricane and a short pursuit ensued.

The suspect, an adult male, ditched the vehicle and took off on foot, so officers began a search of the area. On Facebook, the department posted, “Active incident in the area, heavy police presence.”

A later Facebook post said, “The suspect has been located and arrested. All those asked to stay indoors can now safely go outside.

Several comments from residents followed, thanking Hurricane police for a job well done.
