Spanish Fork husband arrested in wife’s strangulation death

SPANISH FORK, Utah, Aug. 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Spanish Fork Police and medical personnel responded to a report of a woman who was not conscious and not breathing Thursday in the area of 1050 South and 900 East.

According to a news release from SFPD, when officers arrived, they confirmed that the woman, Robin Nichols, 35, was not breathing, and they immediately began CPR. Medical personnel arrived and transported the woman to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

The initial call to Utah Valley Dispatch was made by the woman’s husband.

The Medical Examiner’s Office was notified and an autopsy was performed on Friday to determine the manner and cause of death.

The autopsy results indicated that the woman died of strangulation.

After further investigation into the case, officials arrested the woman’s husband, Curtis Nichols, 35. He was booked into the Utah County Jail on Friday and faces a charge of homicide.

The news release states that the investigation is ongoing, and no further information will be provided at present.

The couple have lived in Spanish Fork for about two years and have three children. Police say there is no record of officers responding to the residence in the past.
