MILLCREEK, Utah, Feb. 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Police Department seized 63 pounds of high-quality marijuana after serving a search warrant on a Millcreek residence.

Detectives from UPD’s Millcreek Street Crimes Unit responded after an anonymous tip led them to a residence at 1553 East 3115 South. Probable cause for the warrant was established after officers observed lots of traffic to and from the home, in addition to other investigative methods.

The marijuana seized had a street value of $225,000 to $250,000, according to a news release from the Unified Police Department. Detectives also seized approximately $23,000 believed to be the proceeds of the drug sale.

The sole occupant of the home, Kevin Mechling, 31, is alleged to have been obtaining and selling the marijuana in high volumes.

Charges against Mechling will be screened with the Salt Lake District Attorney’s Office. The charges will include Possession of Controlled Substances and Drug Distribution.

  1. My daughter was at the home at the time of the arrest. No child protective agency was called, Kevin basically got a slap in the hand and is back to business as usual with a few small
adjustments to how he goes about it. So much for justice. It’s all ok until someone gets hurt. My daughter deserved more protection in this case. If Kevin was not a white male with a good Mormon family I think this would be a different story. – A concerned mother who has had enough!
