Imagine Dragons began their career by winning a Battle of The Bands competition. But the most interesting part; they won that competition right here in Utah.

The band members are from Nevada, California, Utah, and Georgia. However, the Imagine Dragons crew has constant ties to Provo, Utah.

The band formed in Utah County, when guitarist Wayne Sermon from American Fork met lead singer Dan Reynolds, who was playing local shows and attending Brigham Young University.

Hoping to take their career in the music industry a step further, the band moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. After moving a state away, the band comes back to their stomping grounds to film music videos and when they’re not filming here, they use Utah natives to help create videos that they had always imagined.

The music video of the hit single “I’m on Top of the World” was filmed in the Imagine Dragons’ original base of Provo. Using BYUtv’s studio, the CLAS Ropes, a retired KBYU truck, and stars that are well known to Utahns. All the exterior shots of houses were from Provo as well.

When you see flashy lights and music, the words “Viva Las Vegas” may come to mind. The band’s newest hit, “Gold” shows those flashy lights with intricate beats and was filmed exactly where you would think. Las Vegas, Nevada. However, the entire filming company is from Utah. Deep Blue Films members graduated from Utah High Schools and travel to Imagine Dragons to create the videos.

This is all just proof that anyone can make it to the big stage. No matter where you’re from.

Check out two of the Utah native’s music videos below.
