Update: Police ID man killed in industrial accident at Geneva Rock in Draper

DRAPER, Utah, March 14, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials said Wednesday afternoon that a man is dead after an industrial accident at Geneva Rock Products Inc. in Draper.

Draper Police Department spokesman Sgt. Chad Carpenter told Gephardt Daily the man has been identified as Lee Mackay, 57.

The incident occurred at approximately 1 p.m. in the area of 15547 Minuteman Drive in Draper, Carpenter said.

Mackay was attempting to dislodge a piece of heavy chute, and when the piece of equipment came free, it struck him on the head.

Draper Police and Fire responded, Carpenter said, but Mackay died at the scene.

Geneva Rock will be handling further details as they are released.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and co-workers of Mr. Mackay,” Draper PD said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
