Accused Utah Killer Hangs Himself In Weber County Jail
WEBER COUNTY, UTAH – June 22, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Lyle Robert London, the man who pleaded guilty earlier this month to the brutal murder of a Washington Terrace woman was found dead in his Weber County jail cell over the weekend.
According to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, London, age 38, hanged himself sometime after 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon. The last time he’d been seen alive was during a guard’s routine walk through about that time. Investigators say London was found hanging and unresponsive in his cell at 3:52 p.m. as deputies were preparing to deliver meals to inmates. They say at the time, London was not under any special observation and there had been no indication that he was suicidal.
London had been arrested, along with his wife, in the brutal murder of 32-year-old Washington Terrace resident, Lindsay Holbrook. According to charging documents, London claimed to have broken Holbrook’s after falling on her while they were having sex. He told police he then duct taped pillows around her head in attempts to suffocate her before beating her with a baseball bat.
London’s wife, Shuree Laness London, 35, was also taken into custody. Police say she conspired with London to try and access Holbrook’s savings even though she knew Holbrook had been killed.
The investigation into London’d death remains active and ongoing. It has been classified as an in-custody death and it is being investigated by the Weber County Attorney’s Office.
