NEPHI, Utah, May 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Interstate 15 northbound has reopened near Nephi Thursday afternoon after a fatal crash.

A news release from Utah Highway Patrol said officials were notified of the crash, near mile marker 227, just before 12:20 p.m.

“A crew cab GMC truck was pulling a bumper pull camp trailer, which was pulling a Toyota Camry,” the news release said. “The trailer was heavily loaded with belongings along with a Harley Davidson motorcycle.”

Due to the speed and load configuration, the truck began to sway, the driver lost control and ran off the road, first to the right and then into the median.

The male driver sustained head and neck injuries and died at the scene. The deceased man has not yet been identified.

The female front seat passenger was transported to Central Valley Medical Center in Nephi and is in stable condition with non life-threatening injuries. Both occupants were wearing seat belts.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
