IRON COUNTY, Utah, Feb. 1, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old man who died after being ejected from the truck he was traveling in Tuesday morning on state Route 56 in Iron County has been identified.
The deceased is Glenn J. Steed, from Colorado City, Ariz., according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.
The news release said officials were dispatched just before 7:45 a.m. to the crash at mile marker 29 east of the unincorporated community of Beryl.
The truck left the road and rolled into a field; no other vehicles were involved. The truck had been eastbound on SR-56 when it rolled. Steed was ejected and died on scene, the news release said. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
The driver, a 20-year-old man, also from from Colorado City, Ariz., was not wearing his seatbelt but did stay in the vehicle. He was transported by ground to Cedar City Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The UHP is looking into speed and fatigue as being factors in this crash, and officials remind all drivers and passengers to not drive drowsy and to always wear a seatbelt.
Beryl is west of Parowan, approximately 300 miles south of Salt Lake City.
