IRON COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 28, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is inviting residents to participate in a search Monday for a missing 71-year-old woman who has dementia and is non-verbal.

Carol Stratton, who lives in Cedar City, is about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She has blue eyes and gray hair. She was wearing an orange and blue sweater, a red hat, and a large jeweled necklace when last seen.

Stratton was last seen near 3700 West and 4000 North at 2 p.m. Saturday. It isn’t known in which direction she may have been walking.

In an update posted Sunday on Facebook, officials said: “We have called off the public search portion of this for today. We have completed a very large search for today. If you want to help tomorrow (Monday) please come to the command center at 3700 West 4000 North in Cedar City.”

An update Saturday said search teams were out checking areas from State Route 130 to Three Peaks and from Midvalley Road to 300 North.

“We are asking everyone to please check your home and outbuildings for Stratton,” the update said.

Another update Saturday said that as well as K-9 teams, there are also aircraft searching for the missing woman.

Anyone who has seen Stratton or who has any information regarding her possible whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 435-867-7550.
