Jackknifed semi closes northbound I-15 in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 26, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A jackknifed semi-truck has closed northbound I-15 at 1300 South to traffic Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:35 p.m. and involved a semi-truck pulling trailers, two passenger cars and an SUV pulling a trailer, said Sgt. Jalaine Hawkes from the Utah Highway Patrol.

Hawkes said there is no further information yet on the cause of the incident, but that the semi-truck may be leaking fuel, and the freeway is not expected to be fully re-opened until 2:30 p.m.

Hawkes said one man was transported to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City with minor injuries, but it is not yet known which of the vehicles that man was in, or whether he was a driver or passenger.

Drivers are being advised to use I-215 as an alternate route.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
