WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah, April 16, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A driver was transported to the hospital by Life Flight on Saturday after his Jeep rolled on Interstate 15.
The Utah Highway Patrol stated in a news release that the 1997 Jeep soft top was heading south on I-15 at about 9:33 a.m., when the driver drifted off the freeway near milepost 38 and overcorrected to the right.
The Jeep hit the right side guardrail and then rolled more than once, coming to rest near the right lane.
UHP said the driver, the only person in the Jeep, wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. The Jeep came to rest on top of the driver, who was pinned by the vehicle’s roll bar.
The fire department freed the driver, and Life Flight responded and took him to an area hospital. He was expected to survive the crash.
No other vehicles were involved.
UHP said drugs and alcohol are not suspected, and speed doesn’t appear to be a factor. They are looking at fatigue or distraction as possible causes.
