VERNAL, Utah, June 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A female juvenile was taken into custody Saturday after police say she rammed a vehicle into the front of a vacant apartment in Vernal.

“A juvenile female driver was located as part of this morning’s incident and will be referred to juvenile court,” said a 5:30 p.m. post on the Vernal Police Department’s Facebook page.

“Charges are pending, and being screened with the county attorneys office. We appreciate all information provided by the community and the hard work from the officers involved.”

Because she is a minor, the suspect’s name will not be released.

In a 2 p.m. post, Vernal police had asked for the public’s help in finding a suspect.

“At 07:15 hours on June 9th 2018, officers from the Vernal Police Department were dispatched to the Silver Pines apartments at 860 S. Vernal Avenue regarding extensive damage caused when a vehicle collided with the front of Apartment #R103,” the earlier post says.

This apartment was empty and unoccupied at the time of the incident. Investigation at the scene determined that between 03:00 and 07:00 hours a vehicle crossed the sidewalk and a small section of grass colliding with the apartment building.”

Evidence at the scene led officers to an unoccupied vehicle with extensive front end damage.

“Police believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident,” the post says.
