KAYSVILLE, Utah, Aug. 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Multiple agencies joined together Friday night to end the Kaysville to Bountiful chase of a reckless rush hour driver.

Events began at 4:48 p.m. when a Kaysville police officer made a traffic stop at 315 N Main St. on a grey Lexus SUV for traffic violations that almost caused an accident, Kaysville PD said in a 7:30 p.m. press release.

“Upon approaching the vehicle and briefly speaking with the female driver, the female driver fled the traffic stop.”

The pursuit went briefly through a neighborhood then entered southbound I-15. As the officer was pursuing, police said, dispatch advised that the female registered owner of the vehicle was an alcohol-restricted driver and had multiple warrants for her arrest.

The chase continued south on Legacy Parkway where a Utah Highway Patrol trooper took the lead. “Multiple officer attempted to set up spike strips to end the pursuit but were unsuccessful in spiking the violator’s vehicle.

“The violator then exited Legacy at 500 South and went northbound on the frontage road towards the Bountiful City Landfill.” Troopers and other officers were then able to block the vehicle and successfully deploy spike strips.

“Varying agencies from Davis County had arrived to assist at this point and the female occupant refused to exit the vehicle or follow officer’s commands.”

Officers changed her mind after breaking a rear window and shooting a pepper ball into the cab. She got out and was taken into custody.

No injuries to officers or the suspect were reported, nor any damages to vehicles from the pursuit.
