Layton police respond to barricaded man in home

LAYTON, Utah, July 20, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — Layton police responded to a man who barricaded himself inside his home Monday afternoon.

A family member called officials at approximately 2:15 p.m. saying the man was possibly suicidal and may have had a weapon, Lt. Travis Lyman told Gephardt Daily.

Officials went to the home in the area of 350 W. 1700 North and secured the perimeter. They made contact with the man and the situation was resolved peacefully without the assistance of SWAT teams.

No one was injured in the course of the incident, Lyman said. The man was alone in the house.

Gephardt Daily does not usually report on suicides or suicidal individuals unless they impact a community. In this case, individuals in homes nearby were asked to shelter in place while the situation was resolved.
