LAYTON, Utah, Jan. 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Layton Police Department has identified the at-large suspect in Friday’s carjacking as fugitive Tyler Allen Williams.

Police say Williams, 26, was being pursued on foot when he carjacked the Toyota, which had two children in it, at 215 N. Fairfield Road. A short while later, the suspect dropped the 3-year-old and infant off in the C-A-L Ranch parking lot and again took off.

Layton police pursued the vehicle, but let it go when the high-speed chase was deemed dangerous for other drivers in the area.

According to information released Saturday morning, Layton Police officials believe Williams stole a vehicle out of the Taylorsville area Friday and abandoned that vehicle in Layton just prior to being contacted and stealing the Toyota.

Williams is wanted for felony charges of evading, reckless endangerment involving a child, vehicle theft, and several misdemeanor traffic offenses related to Friday’s incident in Layton.

Williams is 6 feet tall, and has a sleeve tattoo on his arm and a “W” tattooed on his cheek. When last seen, he was wearing a black jacket and jeans, and had his hair in a pony tail.

The stolen car is a white 2006 Toyota Corolla, license plate X923ZU.

If you have any information regarding Williams’ whereabouts, Layton Police officials ask that you contact officers at 801-497-8300 or alert your local police agency.
