IRON COUNTY, Utah, June 15, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A wildfire 13 miles southwest of Cedar City was reported Wednesday afternoon, and grew quickly from 50 acres to eight times that size.

According to the Utah Fire Information website, an estimated 400 acres were burning at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officials believe the fire was started by a lightning strike in the area of Bumblebee Mountain in the Dixie National Forest.

Two Forest Service fire engines responded to the scene, as did one from the Bureau of Land Management and associated agencies. Orders were put in for a helicopter, an airplane and several tankers to fight the blaze.

About 20 structures were threatened as of 5 p.m., according to a statement from Utah Fire Information. Fire-fighting efforts were suspected due to high winds by early Wednesday evening.
