BEAVER, Utah, June 18, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The Little Twist Fire increased by 29 acres overnight, bringing its estimated size to 2,305 acres and zero percent contained.

The fire behavior was expected to be less active Tuesday than it was on the windy Monday.

Temperatures were also lower Tuesday, but are expected to rise again by the weekend, says a statement issued by the Central Utah Fire Interagency.

“Firefighters are continuing to make progress in fireline construction to prepare for direct actions later in the week,” the statement says.

“Helicopters were utilized to drop water on the west and north sides of the fire, and critical areas along the perimeter, to keep fire activity in check. Firefighters are continuing their work to improve roads and trails to be used as indirect lines on the south and southwest sides of the fire.

“The area closure order will remain in place to provide safety for both firefighters and the public. Smoke will continue to be visible for several weeks from surrounding areas including I-15, I-70, Highway 89 and Highway 20.

“Visibility may be affected by smoke locally as well as from fires in surrounding states.”

Personnel assigned number 242, the statement says.
