LOGAN, Utah, June 21, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Logan Police Department has released the name of the toddler killed in the roadway Monday when he was struck by an SUV driven by a neighbor backing out of a driveway.
Wyatt Crockett, 13 months, was treated at the scene and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to a Logan Police Department statement, the accident happened just before 7 p.m. Monday in the area of 1700 S. 1330 West.
The child apparently was playing with neighborhood children in the driveway area of his home with his mother, 31-year-old Melissa Crockett, watching.
Melissa Crockett said she went inside the house for a short period of time, and when she came back out she saw the adult male neighbor who lives across the street checking on her child, who was in the roadway.
The neighbor, 32-year-old Kody Davis, had backed out of his driveway, unaware the toddler was in the road, according to the Logan Police Department statement.
Responding officers performed CPR until ambulance crews arrived. The child was transported to Logan Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
