LOGAN, Utah, Dec. 19, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A 19-year-old man was taken into custody Wednesday after allegedly threatening to “kill people” aboard a bus in Logan.
“At 2:30 pm Logan City Police dispatch received a call from Connect Transit about a male who while getting on a bus claimed to be armed and was going to ‘kill people’,” the LCPD said in a post on social media.
“The driver quickly notified his supervisor and Logan Police were called. The Connect bus in question was located at about 1600 north 200 east in North Logan.
“With the assistance of Cache County Sheriff’s Office, and North Park Police, the bus was stopped, and a 19-year-old male taken into custody.”
The passengers were removed from the bus and each was checked for weapons, according to the LCPD post.
“A warrant was obtained for the suspect’s backpack. No weapon was located.”
Landon Oliphant, a 19-year-old male was taken to the Cache County Jail and booked on a second-degree felony for the alleged “disruption of critical infrastructure (the Connect Transit system), possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia,” police said.
“Logan Police would like to thank Connect Transit management and driver for their prompt and professional response to this critical incident.”
