LOGAN, Utah Aug. 11, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating ongoing incidents of theft and vandalism at the Logan Pride center and homes of members.

In a matter of days after the Logan Police Department announced the probe and asked for the public’s assistance with any tips and info on the anti-LGBTQ incidents, the center was hit with new vandalism.

“We had our flags cut again Friday night, and we do have video,” Dorothy Wallis, the center’s board president, told Gephardt Daily. “It is unnerving to have people cut flags, especially when we had people inside our building enjoying time with each other.”

Logan police had posted an alert online Monday: “On July 27, 2024, several flags and poles were stolen and vandalized at the Logan Pride Center.

“Members of the LGBTQ+ community also came forward over the weekend to report the same issues happened at their home.

“If you have any information about related theft/vandalism, please call 435-753-7555.”

The incidents have been occurring periodically, in clusters, for several months now “throughout the community,” Wallis said. “The police response has been comforting. They note to us that they are tired of the hatred and vandalism, and they are taking this seriously.”
