LOGAN, Utah, Dec. 30, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Police in Logan have issued a warning to residents after seeing an unusual rise in both residential and vehicle burglaries.

According to a post on the police department’s Facebook page, police are currently investigating close to 20 recent burglaries in which “personal electronics, jewelry, firearms and bikes have been stolen.”

The post also states the thefts are occurring in both homes and vehicles. Police have recovered many expensive bikes over the past few days, the post said, and have made several arrests.

Police say the post is not intended to create unnecessary alarm, but they are asking for residents to protect their valuables by locking their homes ─ including garages and vehicles ─ at all times. They also advise not storing valuable items in vehicles, especially overnight.

“We recommend motion-activated outdoor lights and please call 911 if you see something you believe to be a person involved in some type of burglary or other criminal activity in progress,” the statement further reads. “With everyone in the community being the eyes and ears of the police we can make a difference.”

Police said not all recovered items have been reported stolen yet. They are asking for anyone who may have had something stolen to please call Logan City Police at 435-753-7555 and file a report.
