AMERICAN FORK CANYON, Utah, May 27, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Lone Peak fire crews assisted with retrieval of a vehicle from the American Fork Canyon river Saturday evening.

“Tonight Lone Peak Fire District crews responded to American Fork Canyon to a vehicle which hit a power pole and then left the road and ended up in the river,” said a Facebook post from officials. “The patient was removed quickly by bystanders. However the inverted vehicle needed to be removed from the river.”

The tow truck operator needed to get out to the vehicle, the post said.

“We set up for swiftwater operations to provide safety for his entry to and from the water,” the Facebook post added.

Lone Peak crews said there are two warnings to heed from the rescue:

  • Be careful around the water. Keep your eyes on children and pets.
  • When near a downed power line treat it as live. “We had several people around and under the line that was still active. Be smart and safe,” the post said.
