MAGNA, Utah, Dec. 9, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Magna woman was charged Friday after police say she admitted having sex with a minor, who also was a runaway.
Jennifer Liddell, 40, was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony, and with endangerment of a child, a third-degree felony.
Unified Police investigators say Liddell had sex with the 16-year-old boy at her residence, where he had been staying.
According to a probable cause statement, which identify the teen as “M.P.,” police found the victim at Liddell’s residence on Aug. 24 of this year. He was in the front room, sleeping on a couch.
“Officer saw drug paraphernalia on the coffee table directly next to M.P.,” the statement says. “The drug paraphernalia included multiple pieces of foil with a burnt black substance on them and glass pipes.
“M.P. immediately became emotional and began yelling for ‘Jen,’ the defendant, referred to Jen as his ‘girlfriend,’ and begged police to let him say goodbye and get Jen’s phone number. During an on-scene interview, M.P. acknowledged that he had sex with the defendant.”
Police found affectionate letters from Liddell to M.P. in the bedroom they reportedly shared, along with more drug paraphernalia, the statement says.
Liddell said two weeks after the teen moved in and the physical relationship began, M.P. added heroin to his usual drug use. Liddell told officers that the boy’s behavior then became sadistic, controlling and violent.
She continued their physical relationship because ” … she was afraid of M.P.,” the statement says. “Defendant showed police bruises she stated that M.P. inflicted on her.”
Liddell’s bail was set at $100,000.
