Magna Party Ends In Gunshots, Party-Goers In Police Pursuit Crash Into Senior Center

Magna Accident

MAGNA, Utah, April 3, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police officers responding Sunday to shots fired at a residence were taken on a chase by party-goers that ended when a driver crashed into a Magna building.

Unified Police Det. Chuck Malm said dispatchers received multiple calls at approximately 6:30 a.m of shots fired in the area of 2969 S. 9150 West.

“Individuals inside the house were partying when shots were fired from outside the home,” Malm said. “Individuals inside then ran from the house and got into a Volkswagon Passat. When officers came to the area, they observed the Passat leaving and attempted to stop the vehicle.”

Malm said the driver of the Passat did not yield to officers, who started to pursue him.

“The driver failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into the Magna Senior Center on the corner of 9200 W. 2700 South,” Malm said. “The four individuals, three adults and one juvenile, all had outstanding warrants and were in possession of drugs.”

The four suspects in the Passat, Sipriano Molina, 18, Christina Ramos, 23, Rodimiro Burquez, 19, along with a male juvenile are expected to be charged with fleeing and possession of narcotics. Malm said they are not being cooperative about the shooting with investigators.

The incident appears to be gang-related, although they are still unsure who fired shots at the home, Malm said.

“No injuries were reported and investigators are still trying to determine how many shots were fired and if those bullets hit any property,” Malm said. “We are hoping anyone with any information, including neighbors who heard the shots, will call.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
