TAYLORSVILLE, Utah, Dec. 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was killed Friday, along with two house pets, after an early morning fire in Taylorsville.

Unified Fire Authority District Chief Duane L. Woolsley told Gephardt Daily fire crews were first called to a home at 3478 W. Valley Heights Drive about 2:30 a.m. When they arrived they found smoke and flames pouring from the structure.

Firefighters managed to knock down the blaze and made their way inside where they discovered the man’s body near the front of the home.

A dog and a cat were also killed.

Woolsley said the victim — whose identity has yet to released — appeared to be making his way out of the house when he was overcome.

Neighbors said three others live in the home, but were gone when the fire broke out.

Investigators believe the fire burned for quite some time before it was called in. They say the structure is a total loss.

Gephardt Daily will update the story as more information becomes available.
