Man, 73, critically injured when struck by car in South Salt Lake

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, July 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A 73-year-old man is in the hospital Saturday night after he was hit by a car at 2500 S. State St.

The man, who was alone, was using a walker as he crossed from east to west just before 10 p.m., South Salt Lake Police Sgt. Suazo told Gephardt Daily.

He was struck by a Prius that was heading south on State Street, and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The adult female driver of the car remained on scene.

Suazo said the investigation is still in the early stages, with officials processing the scene and checking for any impairment. An officer also was at the hospital, checking on the injured man.

The crash analysis reconstruction team (CART) is assisting in the investigation.

  1. There are not enough lights in this town. Where I grew up we had street lights every so many feet. It would help immensely.
