WEST JORDAN, Utah, May 17, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A man has been arrested after an alleged home invasion in West Jordan.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County said Sinju Dmyron Sinju, 28, is facing charges of:

  • Burglary of a dwelling, a second-degree felony
  • Criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor
  • Interruption/interference of a communication device, a class B misdemeanor
  • Commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child, a class B misdemeanor

Officials responded to a reported home invasion at an address in West Jordan in the early hours of Monday morning, the statement said.

“Upon speaking with the victim, I determined that the suspect had committed a burglary of a dwelling with the intent to harm the victim,” the arresting officer wrote. “This occurred in a residence where the victim is the sole resident, and the suspect has no residency. The victim showed text messages that the suspect was going to come over to the house and murder them about 30 minutes prior to the incident.”

The victim stated that the suspect came to the house, banging on the door and yelling for the victim to open the door.

“The victim refused to open the door so the suspect kicked the door in to gain access to the residence,” the statement said. “The victim stated that the suspect then ran into the residence straight towards the victim’s bedroom where she was sleeping with her child.”

The victim said she was calling the police and the suspect allegedly tried to take the phone away from her, according to the statement.

Sinju was transported to Salt Lake County Jail, where he is being held without bail.

The probable cause statement did not say what the relationship is between the suspect and the victim.
