Man arrested after police say he fled scene of Heber City house fire which killed family pets

HEBER CITY, Utah, Dec. 3, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An arrest has been made in connection with a fire that severely damaged a Heber City home on Saturday.

According to a post on the Heber City Police Department Facebook page, officers responded to a report of a house fire and found the house fully engulfed.

Robert Irvin Doan III, 46, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree arson after fleeing the scene, the post states. He is being held at the Wasatch County Jail.

Wasatch County Fire/EMS searched the house for occupants before quickly knocking down the fire, which was reported to have started in the basement.

The family’s two cats perished in the fire.
