LOGAN, UTAH – July 15, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A 59-year-old man was arrested today after he brandished a gun at the Southwest Spine and Pain Center in Logan.

Logan City Police Capt. Tyson Budge said the dispute call to the  doctor’s office at 550 E. 1400 North in Logan came in at 9:35 a.m. It was reported a male was in their lobby and was distraught. One of the complainants heard him threaten himself and they also observed a handgun in his possession. The male did not threaten anyone in the office nor did he point the weapon at anyone other than himself. The male was identified as a patient of the office from Garden City.

Patrol officers arrived and were able to evacuate all the employees and surrounding businesses safely. Hostage negotiators and tactical officers from the Cache County Sheriff’s office and the Logan City Police Department responded. The scene was secured and negotiators were able to talk the man into putting his firearm down in around 40 minutes. The male was taken into custody and is currently receiving a medical evaluation.

No-one was injured in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
