SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 18, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly shot at a vehicle on Mountain View Highway, according to South Jordan police.

Cody Mikel Davis is charged with four counts of third-degree felony discharge of a firearm, and one count of class B misdemeanor discharge of firearms.

A probable cause affidavit filed in 3rd District Court in Salt Lake County says the victim in the case told authorities the suspect, driving a Subaru south on Mountain View Highway, came up behind the victim and started flashing his lights.

He then allegedly drove around the victim in the turn lane, pulled in front of the victim, and slammed on his brakes.

“He then stuck out a handgun out the driver’s window and then fired one round at the vehicle behind him,” the affidavit says.

There were two adults and two juveniles inside that vehicle, the statement said, but none of them were injured.

The victim told police he saw sparks come from the ground near his vehicle on the driver side door. He then quickly headed home.

The victim described the suspect as “a white male mid 20’s and skinny,” wearing a black hat.

One of the victims took a photo of the suspect’s vehicle, a gray Subaru, and the license plate. There also were red-paint hands on the back of the Subaru.

“Post Miranda suspect admitted to discharging the firearm and taking off,” the charging document states. “The vehicle was located and photographed.”

The vehicle matched the description the victim gave to police, and a handgun with one round missing was recovered, according to the probable cause statement.

Davis was booked into Salt Lake County Jail, where he is being held with no bail.
