Man assaulted on Monroe Blvd. in Ogden dies; police have lead on ‘person of interest’

OGDEN, Utah, Feb. 3, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man who was assaulted Saturday night in Ogden has died, and officials are seeking the public’s help as they investigate the incident.

Officers responded to a report of an unknown problem on the 2200 block of Monroe Boulevard at 9:52 p.m., a news release from Ogden Police Department on Sunday night states.

“A male in his late 20s was found unconscious and in need of medical attention,” the news release says.

“He was transported to a local area hospital in critical condition, but has since succumbed to his injuries.”

Officials believe the man was injured in a physical altercation. They said there is nothing to indicate that a firearm was involved.

The victim’s name has not been released, pending notification of family members.

The incident is under investigation, and detectives are following up on leads. They have identified a person of interest, but no one has been arrested at this time, according to the news release.

Police said they believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public.
